Wildlife fans will spot whales, dolphins, eagles, seals, otters and deer; wander through tall grasses sprinkled with bluebells, wild garlic and rare orchids. Stride over stunning hills, cycle your socks off, fish from the shore - there's much to do and see from your award-winning architect-designed retreat on the hill. Inside is equally invigorating: floor to ceiling windows for long and wide views, a crisply dressed bed, super shower room, a sofa facing the sea and a sleek kitchen on the side.
You'll feel very private: lovely Ian and Robbie are just down the hill but you can't see them and they can't see you. Instead they leave you alone with tasty biscuits and a good bottle of wine. If it all sounds too rustic for you then take heart! There's a widescreen TV with Sky, WiFi, and a smart music system - even if it's raining you'll feel happy here.
Treat yourselves to a meal out at The Three Chimneys, a 10-minute winding drive.

Ian & Robbie McLean:

  • We are a short drive away from The Three Chimneys Restaurant
  • Dunvegan Head is a short 1 hour walk to the highest sea cliff on Skye with stunning 360 degree view of the Western Isles, Macleods Tables, The Cuillin and the Trotternish Ridge.
  • Neist Point - There is a Lighthouse and rocks reputed to be same formation that reaches over to the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland. It’s a great place for fishing, wildlife such as dolphins, whales and sea birds as well as glorious sunsets.
  • Dunvegan Castle - Is Scotland’s oldest inhabited castle: you can explore the grounds and the beautiful walled garden. From there you can take seal boat trips.
  • Coral Beach - The white sandy beach is directly across the loch from An Airigh, made from unique calcified seaweed. It’s a beautiful natural place whatever the weather and the clear water looks so inviting. During very low tides you can cross the causeway.

"We had a wonderful holiday at An Airigh . The house suits so well in the wonderful landscape. The interior is a happy surprise of beautiful design. All created with much skill and love. Relaxing on the sofa we enjoyed the stunning views. Flocks of gannets diving for fish. A few times we saw a group of dolphins chasing and jumping over the waves. The 'front garden' is a botanic jewel box of biodiversity. An Airigh has great sense of place! Ian and Robby are very nice and friendly hosts. We felt very welcome and at home. Mind you, they work very hard to restore and manage the croft so well. "

"I asked the question why choose this area of Skye to live, after the week I know the answer, Galtrigll is a very special place. Everything in An Airigh is first class, so easy to step through the door and just relax, the accommodation is so well designed and very clean and warm every thing so easy to use and so so comfortable. We got a very warm welcome from Ian and Robbie thank you. The shop and cafe, also Skye weavers are worth a visit every one so friendly. Glendale web site is full of useful information. "

"A peaceful location with stunning views across the Loch where we spotted porpoises feeding and gannets diving. The strategically placed sofa affords the perfect panorama where you can spend hours watching the ever changing weather and amazing marine wildlife. The silence strikes you; perfect for total relaxation. Ian and Robbie are on hand if needed but will respect your privacy and leave you alone to ponder or paint meditate or muse. Recommended for anyone needing a place to retreat, relax or recuperate."

"It is in the details An excellent experience, in a truly beautiful location. A modern minimalistic but still luxurious designed house. And yes, the view and location are indeed splendid. But I think most remarkable are all the small details that makes this a perfect stay: - The used materials from Skye, like curtains and skins. - Maps and cards - The cutlery Etc... "

"We had an absolutely fantastic stay in An Airigh and have already recommended it to a number of friends and family. An unbelievably beautiful setting, with incredible views, and such lovely hosts. Everything we could have wanted was provided for - the property was really well presented, tidy and an ideal and very thoughtful design for 2. Already missing the log fires coming back from one of the many local walks on the mountains or beaches. A perfect getaway - we hope to visit again soon!"

"We enjoyed Skye through November most unpredictable weather, and An Airigh has been our own little haven with its scenic view and well-thought spaces. From our little globetrotting experience, there are few places in the world where you can enjoy remoteness, admire a full rainbow dropping into the sea while zipping your whisky on a comfortable couch at the heat of a fire. Scotland at its best! And, Ian is a wonderful guest. Paola & Paolo"

"We had the most fabulous week at An Airigh. The accommodation was first class with absolutely everything you could need to make your stay perfect. Ian and Robbie have thought of everything in a practical and stylish way. The bed is extremely comfortable and the bedding luxurious. We fell in love with the amazing view over loch and on to the Western Isles beyond which can be seen from every window. We loved the floor to ceiling windows, falling asleep with the stars twinkling outside and then waking to the sunrise over the loch. The best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in - Heaven."

"There are so many superlatives to describe An Airigh it's difficult to use just one - it is a very special and memorable place with breathtaking, mesmerising views from every room. Ian & Robbie are extremely welcoming hosts and have taken great care and attention with every single detail; all the fixtures and fittings are of the highest quality - with locally sourced items wherever possible - so you really do feel the Isle of Skye all around you! We looked forward to coming "home" at the end of each day to what was one of the nicest holiday homes we have ever stayed in. We will be back!"

The bathroom is brilliant with a great shower to return to after a wet walk! Ian and Robbie are very helpful and welcoming and we can recommend their home grown veg. The view is stunning and constantly changing, which is luxuriously enjoyed in your decadent surroundings: from the quality of the utensils and appliances, to the locally sourced and made aesthetic touches, An Airigh is a paradise seemingly at the edge of the world. "Such a wonderful and special bolt hole - an ideal place to rest, re-charge and enjoy everything that Skye has to offer. Ian and Robbie have set An Airigh up beautifully, it has everything you could possibly need in a week in a modern and in a wonderfully quiet rural setting. We bought the freshest vegetables and eggs imaginable from them, enjoyed lobsters, chicken and bread from the local farmers market. Who needs a supermarket?! We can't wait to go back for more, we absolutely loved staying at An Airigh."

"This place is fabulous. No, really, - it is fabulous. It is wonderfully fabulous in fact. The 'house' is interesting, very well appointed, extremely comfortable, and has everything and more that you could need. It stands in a lovely part of Skye and has the most serene and beautiful view of Loch Dunvegan imaginable. The owners are on hand should you need them (we didn't as everything in the house was perfect) but it's good to know they are nearby. I had intended to do absolutely nothing all week (a perfect place to do it) but Skye has so much to do I need another break at An Airigh very soon."

Paul - Mansfield, United Kingdom

"We have been visiting Skye for many years and have now found our perfect location. Having just completed our second visit, we are now planning our third. Clean and comfortable accommodation, light, airy and peaceful, with panoramic views. Ian and Robbie are the perfect hosts, providing up to date information on things to see and do. Our only complaint is that time here passes far too quickly."

We had such great holiday on Skye there is so much to see and do and it was made even better by coming home to An Airigh to relax and enjoy the stunning views after a day out. "We loved it so much we returned and hope to do so again. Such a wonderful place, magnificent views, fantastic accommodation, lovely hosts. Skye offers a wildness and beauty unrivalled by other places we visited. Friendly people, delicious food, an abundance of wildlife, boat trips a must. We didnt even mind the bad weather days, always something to do. An Airigh was our jewel in the crown, holds a special place in our hearts."

Martina - Angus, United Kingdom

"Ian and Robbie have created an inspirational jewel, set in a field above Loch Dunvegan, with views across the sea to the Outer Hebrides, the sun rising directly across the bay, silence, solitude and superb fittings within. Be ready to learn to drive without fear on tricky little single track roads that are always longer than you remember, for super-friendly locals, for two great restaurants within 10 miles, for some of the best views in the UK, for fresh eggs at the end of the drive, super hot showers, getting lost and loving it, and that feeling at the end - that you really can't leave."

Hugh - Falmouth, United Kingdom

"It's hard to think of anything that could improve a stay at An Airigh if you like Skye. Once you've experienced the view, the wildlife, the warm welcome and the exceptionally well equipped house, you know you might never improve on it. And if you're thinking it's a stretch on the budget, just do it, because it's worth it!"

Baz - Birmingham, United Kingdom

"This is a very special place. The modern house is very stylish yet also cosy, with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The ever-changing views over the loch were mesmerising. Ian and Robbie made us feel very welcome, and meeting their small flock of Hebridean sheep was an utter delight. The perfect place to get away, unwind, and take in this beautiful part of the world. We really hope to return. "

"I wanted a quite space to relax and read. The accommodation was very comfortable and the views stunning and ever changing. Ian and Robbie were discrete hosts and very friendly. Their advice on buying seafood proved very useful. I was so impressed I've already booked a return visit in April 2016."

David - Kirkby Lonsdale, United Kingdom

"A lovely week's holiday. Belying An Airigh small footprint, the sense of space and light inside is remarkable. Ian and Robbie are sensitive and discreet hosts. Being able to purchase the croft's own quality and varied produce enhanced the pleasure of our cooking. Proximity to wildlife is assured - we saw otter, porpoises and barnacle geese within a short distance of An Airigh, and it was delightful to return to such a warm, elegant surrounding each evening."

Liz - Glasgow, United Kingdom

"A magnificent location with accommodation to match. The owners' attention to detail in the quality of the build and the furnishings make this simply the best holiday let we've enjoyed."
