A great base from which to explore beautiful Pembrokeshire - walk by the coast, take to the hills, check out ancient St David’s

Read guest comments

Fishguard is quirky – arty and friendly with a folk festival in May and a jazz festival in August. You'll find great coastal walks, sandy beaches and magical St Davids a few miles south. In short, it's much more than an overnight stop on your way to Ireland and, with a happy vibe waiting at the Manor Town House, hard to resist. Chris and Helen escaped London and have taken to their new world like ducks to water. Inside, you're greeted by a couple of gorgeous sitting rooms – stripped floorboards, cool colours, local art, and crackling fires in winter. One has an honesty bar, you get fresh flowers, lots of books, and comfy sofas from which to plan your day. Homely bedrooms have lots of charm: bold colours, beautiful fabrics, the odd antique, super-comfy beds. Those at the back have sea views, perhaps a sofa or a padded window seat, while compact bathrooms do the trick. Breakfast is a treat, there's a garden for afternoon tea overlooking the harbour, and it's a one-minute stroll up the road to Bar Five for cocktails. Pembrokeshire awaits. Brilliant.

  • The Coastal Path is stunning and Fishguard is a great base for walkers with excellent transport links. Head up into the lovely Gwaun Valley or the Preseli Hills, go kayaking, take a sea-safari, hire a bike, or jump into some coasteering!
  • Open a window onto the spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and luxuriate in the gorgeous views from our sea-facing bedrooms. Or perhaps take in the scenery with your breakfast, or maybe a cream tea on our lovely garden terrace.
  • Here in Pembrokeshire, we have some of the finest food produce in Britain, and Fishguard is a great place to sample it. Lovely restaurants, cafes, pubs, a great deli and the weekly farmers market, plus our own carefully sourced and delicious breakfasts.
  • Fishguard is the culture capital of West Wales, with five fabulous festivals. As well as Folk and Jazz, there's Classical music in July, plus the Autumn Food Festival in November. There's even the UK's first celebration of Spaghetti Westerns, in February!
  • The West Wales Art Centre on West St has beautiful works by acclaimed local artists, and there are great galleries in nearby Porthgain and St Davids, home also to the beautiful cathedral. Visit Melin Tregwynt and Solva mills for iconic Welsh woollens.
  • Recently rated by National Geographic as being amongst the top 3 best coastal destinations in the world, we have gorgeous beaches galore. Don't miss Whitesands, Barafundle, Newport and Poppit Sands, plus many little-known gems that we can direct you to.

"The warmest owners, very comfortable room with lovely sea views, fab breakfast both days with the exceptional bonus of decent coffee. My 7-year-old grandson went wild swimming on the saturday afternoon and when we got back he was made a big fuss of and given hot chocolate by the wood-burner. A fuss-free, friendly place."

"Beautiful house, wonderfully decorated and with two lounges and a wood stove warming them in the chillier weather. You immediately feel welcome, both by Helen and Chris and the house itself. Our bedroom had a sea view and a window seat to view it from. The bed was huge and comfortable, excellent bedding and very, very comfy!! The breakfast menu is not only one of the best we have ever seen but also one of the most delicious. We have never been anything but delighted with holiday places found through Sawdays, and this is a gem. Thank you!!"

"It's hard to speak highly enough about The Manor Town House. Since we got back we've been recommending it to everyone. The B&B itself is lovely: a lot of care has been put into making it an elegant, relaxed setting, and the views over the harbour are fantastic - both from the room and the garden. The breakfasts are the best I've ever had in a hotel or a B&B: there was an amazing range, made with real care and fantastic ingredients. But Chris and Helen really put it a cut above anywhere else we've stayed, simply by being so welcoming and thoughtful. We can't wait to return. "

"We stayed for 2 nights in a very comfy and quiet bedroom with a memorable view overlooking Fishguard Lower Harbour. Very comfortable bed, great breakfast and well located for St David's and the coast oath. Chris and Helen are delightful hosts and gave us excellent advice on local restaurants for our evening dinner. We look forward to returning when next in Pembrokeshire."
