Come for a rest and to be cosseted in this Virginia creeper-clad Languedoc house surrounded by ten acres of green permaculture and woodland

It's gorgeous here. The feel is historic, individual and authentic with some lovely architectural features like the restored Art Deco wallpaper in the salon, a signed 1871 stained glass window and the laundry room converted into an 'Orient Express' style bathroom. There are five large and elegant bedrooms, most with separate seating areas, all with fridges and Nespresso machines, lovely antiques and superb views.

Breakfast is organic with homemade granola and yogurt, fruit from the garden, eggs from the owners' chickens and fresh breads, all served in the elegant dining room or outdoors. The house employs a live-in cook and delicious organic lunches and suppers can be arranged if you want. You'll find a natural pool in the garden, walks are sublime, electric bikes can be borrowed and you can do yoga in the pretty gardens.

Take the whole place, have an intimate or large party, get married. All can be handled with ease and charm.

Dimitri Augustidis:

  • The small town of Montolieu, a few kilometres north-west of Carcassonne in the Languedoc region of southern France. The town is best known for the number of booksellers in the town that attract enthusiasts of old books from far afield.
  • Start your visit to Limoux in the historic centre, an attractive area around the Place de la Republique with some attractive 15th-16th century houses and other monuments. It’s a very pleasant spot to stop for lunch.
  • The historic town of Carcassonne is in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, 90 kilometres south-east of Toulouse. It is certainly one of the most interesting and impressive medieval towns in the whole of France.
  • Saissac is quite a small village between Carcassonne and Revel in the Aude department of languedoc-Rossillon and makes for a very scenic detour when you are travelling between the two.
  • Saint-Hilaire is a small town to the south of Carcassonne. A pleasant town in itself, Saint Hilaire attracts many visitors because of the presence of a jewel of romanesque architecture in the village - the Abbey of Saint-Hilaire.
  • Castelnaudary is a town in the Aude department of Languedoc-Roussillon, between Toulouse and Carcassonne. A pleasant town to explore, the most interesting part of the town for visitors centres around a large port area on the Canal du Midi called the Grand Bassin.
