Les Roullets - Bed & Breakfast in Vaucluse
305A Chemin de Fontdrèche, 84580 Oppède, Vaucluse
Provence - Alps - Riviera,
France
Take a glass of the estate wine to the terrace overlooking the distant hills, and watch the sun set. In whatever direction you turn your gaze, all you'll see is beauty.
This rambling Provencal mas with a gite in the grounds has a cave for wine tasting and 18th-century walls that keep rooms calm and cool. With private entrances and outdoor spaces, some of the bedrooms face the vines and others Mont Ventoux.
After a bountiful breakfast on the terrace of pastries, homegrown fruit and veg, yogurt and homemade jams, Vanessa will point you towards the hilltop villages. Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon: all within a half-hour drive. Return to wafting lavender and manicured lawns, a summer kitchen, a weekly barbecue, pétanque and the pool.

Local points of interest from Vanessa Lewis:

Vanessa Lewis:
- Ménerbes, the charming hilltop village made famous in Peter Mayle's classic, A Year in Provence, is a 5-minute drive away. Or you could hire an electric bikes and cycle there.
- There are local markets selling vibrant produce and arts and crafts every morning. The antique market in Isle sur la Sorgue on Sunday morning is world class.
- Provence is heaven for food and wine lovers, whether you're after Michelin-starred fine dining or an intimate table d'hôte. Alternatively you can rustle up your own supper in the summer kitchen with the glorious produce from the kitchen garden and orchard.
- The Carrières de Lumières in Les Baux de Provence is an immersive art installation projected on the walls, floor and ceiling of a disused quarry.
- There are lots of hiking trails around the property offering spectacular views of the Luberon mountains and valley and the nearby medieval hilltop village of Oppède le Vieux.
- History buffs will enjoy visiting the Palais de Papes in Avignon and the roman sites in Orange and Arles. The roman aqueduct, Le Pont du Gard, is also worth visiting.
