Head off on one of the woodland paths to watch for birds, go down to the river for a dip and to the village for breakfast bread; for dinner head to L’Angelus.
There’s space for everyone to spread out on the back terrace with its great, green views and glimpses of the Dordogne and around the fenced pool below. Indoors too, over two long, low floors, you’ve a big, comfy sitting room and roomy half-basement with simple TV and games rooms and a laundry room. Bedrooms are in two wings so work well for two families; this is a practical, unfussy kind of place, complete with nursery and home office too.
Nearby Carsac and medieval Sarlat have great weekly food markets – come back with baskets of barbecue goodies or confit de canard, cèpes and foie gras. Hire bikes and pedal the Sarlat/Cazoulès Greenway or canoes for a river trip; take time to be still.

- The area is simply wonderful. The old town, dating from medieval and renaissance times, is a pleasure to visit, especially during the spring and autumn. If you can catch the early morning sunshine on the yellow sandstone buildings, so much the better
- After a bike ride or a canoe trip on the Dordogne with your family, enjoy some special time in the air!Fly over the Périgord noir in a microlight aircraft, enjoy an exceptional panorama on a paraglider, or if you’re really adventurous, go for a freefall.
- Private and safe in our hillside chartreuse with magnificent views. Fully restored and renovated, with 6 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms and a nursery. Our pool overlooks the dordogne river and valley, a view we never get bored of, the morning mist is magical.
- The medieval, picturesque town of Sarlat-la-Canéda is a 15 minute drive, with all its shops, pavement cafés, restaurants, supermarkets and traditional weekly street markets. Some of france's best rock climbing spots and top wine region for wine tasting.
- So much to see with many historical sights and famous gardens to visit, a short drive from the house. Walking distance to fresh village bakers, shops & cafe's. Also medieval chateaux & fortified dwellings, many caves with traces of prehistoric civilisation
- Free WIFI, UK TV in our snug, games, forest walks, cycle paths, beautiful chatter of birdlife from our forest and the occasional wildlife visit the house. Such a sanctuary of peace, but also brimming with activity options for the more active.
