Comfortable Clifton home a hop from shops, restaurants, harbour ferry and the heart of Bristol. With easy-going hosts and great breakfasts

Read guest comments

A super city base in one of Bristol's fine Georgian houses with, without a doubt, the best views in Clifton.

Four sunny, traditional bedrooms have a welcoming glass of sherry and homemade cake; one is at the top of the house; the room on the lower ground floor overlooks the large, leafy garden. Simon and Joanna give you a good, leisurely breakfast with a choice of eggs anyway, local sausages and bacon, pancakes, fresh fruit, compotes with star anise, homemade jams and marmalade.

Head down the steps and catch a ferry to see the city from the water, walk into Clifton for independent shops and plenty of bustling cafés and restaurants, cross the Suspension Bridge and into Ashton Court for park and woodland walks - and the balloon festival in the summer. Return to the elegant drawing room with its large veranda to take in those views of the Avon Gorge.

"Excellent B&B - one of the nicest we have stayed at. Large comfortable rooms with lovely views of the garden and across the Avon Gorge to the Mendips. Welcoming cake and sherry in the bedroom. Delicious breakfast. Good restaurants and interesting walks around Clifton and down the hill to Bristol centre. "

"Lovely B&B to base yourself from when visiting Bristol for the first time - and a great location to choose if you are visiting for The Balloon festival. Simon is full of good ideas of what to fill your day with and very good at giving a steer of best times to be at places & events. The house is a delight and the breakfast varied and scrumptious - would thoroughly recommend a stay"

"Terrific b and b in Clifton. The hosts clearly love their house, as indeed they should. It's a grand Georgian townhouse with wonderful views over the river. The rooms are simple and comfortable. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Leisurely breakfasts are in the drawing room with a garden view and are excellent; an unhurried feast with newspapers laid out for guests."

"My friend and I stayed at this wonderful B&B with her two children. It is the most magnificent Georgian house overlooking the River Avon. Simon welcomed us and took time to find out our plans so he could ensure we had good directions, bus numbers, taxi ranks and recommendations for lunch and dinner. There was free parking right outside on a ‘first come first basis’ so once we had arrived we did not move the car. Our room was large, spacious, warm and welcoming. There was a huge selection of teas and coffee to choose from together with fruit cake and biscuits for afternoon tea and a glass of sherry and nuts for 6.00pm! The bathroom was full of delights too – lovely goodies for the bath and shower. Breakfast was such a treat – fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereals all ready and waiting for you. The girls had American pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and we had a full English and a smoked salmon and scrambled egg. It was beautifully cooked, nicely served and very much enjoyed!! One comes away from No 9 feeling that the owners are incredibly generous – the price is very reasonable, but everything – rooms, towels, bed linen, food, service is quality. I run a B&B myself and I know how much effort goes into providing this quality of service. We really can’t wait to go back. Thank you so much Simon and Joanna for making us feel so welcome."

"Stayed for 3 days and have booked to return again next month. Lovely building, friendly hosts and a fine breakfast all in an excellent position with good restaurants and bars close by."
