The barn sits high up on the estate, with panoramic views to the Lakes on one side and the dramatic Pennine fells on the other – the feel is very private, rural and energising. Walk your socks off in any direction, marvel at the views and the wildlife (spot deer and elusive red squirrels), return to a soak in the wood-fired hot tub, or settle in the open-plan living room with chunky beams, books, games and squishy sofas. It's just the ticket for winding down.
The kitchen is built for happy chatting and cooking with all the kit you need, and you eat at a long wooden table in front of a cosy wood-burner. Logs are free and unlimited, there are activities on the estate, hampers can be ordered in advance, a private chef procured.
There are two staircases: one to the master bedroom with a tub, the other to two doubles, which share a shower room downstairs – there are extra loos and an outdoor shower by the woodland for sultry evenings.

- Allium at Askham Hall, a hotel, health barn, café and beautiful restaurant. It sits at the centre of the Lowther Estate (where much of the food on the menu comes from) and offers the best seasonally driven cuisine available for many miles.
- Ullswater Wake and Surf. Wake surfing on Ullswater, one of England's most picturesque lakes, during a sunny day is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
- Keswick, a location greatly known for its beautiful town and surrounding hikes. A must-visit that is not too far from Edenhall.
- There are many fine ways to climb Helvellyn, but an ascent via Striding Edge has to be considered the most spectacular of all.
- Aira Force, a beautiful stroll alongside a lush, forested creek is a great way to embrace a lovely day in the Lake District.
- Lowther Castle & Gardens, take the kids out for a nice sunny day stroll through the rose fields and learn about the history behind the magnificent castle ruin that remains.
