A surprisingly roomy interior for this pretty chocolate-box cottage in the middle of the village, just a ten-minute walk from Lulworth Cove

Come for a warm, comforting old cottage. The wood-burner in the Purbeck stone fireplace belts out the heat, the sofa and armchairs have cushions to sink into and you'll find a dresser full of games and DVDs plus a telly with bells and whistles so you can watch a film on rainy days. The bright, traditional kitchen has plenty of prepping space and a wooden table for four – there are plenty of pots and pans for the keenest cook and you're left basics for cooking.

There is a little courtyard at the back for a morning cup of tea, but mostly you'll be out and about – there are lovely walks all around you including the gorgeous South West Coast Path. Return to a tiled hallway for the useful dumping of wellies and coats, and a downstairs loo/shower for washing sandy feet. Upstairs are two pretty bedrooms, one double and one twin, with a spotless shared bathroom.

The thatched pub, The Castle Inn, is a two-minute walk and serves excellent food all day.
