On a nature reserve in the Cotswold Water Park, criss-crossed by miles of cycle paths, is a strikingly contemporary holiday estate. This lakeside house, flooded with light, is immaculately presented.
From the sofa in the living room you have a grand view of the lake, so even on dull days it's a good spot. Light the wood-burning stove when it's chilly, laze on the balcony on sunny days. There are books, games, DVDs, cookery books and a great kitchen but you'll spend much time outdoors. Access to the on-site spa is yours (gym, sauna, steam room, three pools, hot tub), there are beavers in the lake and a shop for stocking up on basics; The Bakers Arms pub in Somerford Keynes is a short walk away.
Older children will be safe going off on adventures and making new friends; birdwatchers will be mesmerised; paddle boarders can set sail from the door; those less mobile can watch all the fun from indoors. This is perfect for multi-generational holidays.
