High ceilings, stone floors and chunky beams show off ancient roots, but it's been converted by a conservation architect so you'll be cosy with ground source heating and there's masses of room. Cooking in the farmhouse kitchen will be a breeze and the table can be extended to fit 24 if you're a larger party – book a further two cottages on site and a chef can be hired if you don't want to do the cooking.
Large French windows lead onto the terrace with another huge table for al fresco meals, a built-in barbecue, the greenest lawns and far-reaching views over stunning countryside – open a glass of something chilled while children charge about safely. Find fluffy gowns, spoiling bedding and organic soaps and lotions upstairs – the little Wagon Shed has its own bedroom for escapees.
Swim in the heated pool or jump in the lake; play tennis, pool or table tennis. Emma can organise tailor-made experiences like painting, yoga and Pilates.
