Middle Farm & Cottages: Gooseyard Cottage - Self-catering in Shropshire
Betchcott, SY6 6NP, Shropshire
England,
Regno Unito
Hide yourselves away in this deeply rural spot and enjoy a bit of hush – you'll hear lots of birdsong, the walking is fabulous and if you're too busy to cook then you can pick up delicious home-cooked meals from the Guest Farm Shop. Your open-plan space is light, bright and cosy with plenty of seating, solid oak floors with jolly rugs and a chunky wooden table.
Outdoors you'll find a super open-fronted barn for table tennis and football, darts and a basketball hoop, plus a communal garden with barbecue, pizza oven and fire pit. It's very tranquil here surrounded by specimen trees and flower-filled borders. On rainy days you can hunker down with books, games and a very smart TV with apps for streaming.
Walks are from the door, you can visit the Shire horses next door and have a carriage ride, or head to the fishing lake to try your hand at landing a carp or tench. And so to bed – very private and romantic, with an en suite bath and shower.

- Shropshire is one of the greatest walking counties in the UK. The spectacular Long Mynd runs down the middle of central/south Shropshire with the Wenlock Edge on the east and Stiper Stones on west. Not to mention 297 miles of the Shropshire Way!
- There is something for everyone for eating out close to Middle Farm. In addition to our friendly local pub just a 15 minute walk from you cottage, there are numerous lovely country pubs in the area together with some great Gastro venues in local towns.
- Whilst staying at Middle Farm, why not enjoy the experience of a horse drawn carriage ride around the beautiful Shropshire countryside on a carriage pulled by two of our resident shire horses, you can enjoy the scenery at the pace of a bygone age.
- We have some beautiful local towns within easy reach of Middle Farm including Shrewsbury with over 600 listed buildings in the town centre alone, the medieval market town of Ludlow and Ironbridge the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution.
- If you enjoy heritage, castles and other historical sites, you’re spoilt for choice in Shropshire with many National Trust and English Heritage sites including Attingham Park, Powys Castle, Croft Castle, Berrington Hall and The Priory at Much Wenlock.
- Experience what life was like back in Victorian times with visits to Blists Hill, a beautifully recreated Victorian Town or Acton Scott which offers visitors the chance to experience rural life in a horse drawn pre-industrial era.
