Peaceful early Victorian house with spacious bedrooms, a snug sitting room and very generous breakfasts. The garden is lovely too

This house feels like a country oasis but is only a mile from the centre of Salisbury. You have the use of your own sunny yellow sitting room with lots of bookshelves to browse or can sit out in the good-sized shaded garden, which is filled with bluebells in spring.

Tim and Biddy are warm and engaging and very attentive to their guests. Breakfast includes home-made muesli, breads and jam, fresh berries, poached fruit and local honey with the usual bacon and eggs - the latter sourced from the hens in the garden. A thermal jug of fresh milk is left at your door in the evening so you can make a fresh cup of tea in your room.

Salisbury is a brisk 25-minute walk downhill and has a diverse range of restaurants - ask for advice on where to go - as well as the famous Charter Market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The Cathedral has the tallest spire in the country, Stonehenge is nearby and there are festivals to be enjoyed throughout the year.

Punti d'interesse locali da
Biddy Walker & Tim Chadsey:

  • Salisbury is famous for its Cathedral and Close - a magnificent building in a beautiful setting. It also has the best original copy of Magna Carta, one of the most imporatant documents of modern democracy. Don't forget to explore to rest of our city.
  • Stonehenge is only a 20 minute drive from us and must not be missed. If you don't want to drive there is an excellent bus tour that can include the Cathedral and Old Sarum (an iron age hill-fort and the original site of the Cathedral),
  • Salisbury is host to a wonderful Festival of music and is very close to the Chalke Valley History Festival. The CVHF is a week of fascinating talks and demonstrations by historians with air displays by iconic planes including Spitfires and Mustangs.
  • There are plenty of historic houses and gardens nearby including Wilton House, Old Wardour Castle and Mottisfont which has the National Rose Collection. We are ideally placed for visiting National Garden Scheme gardens in Dorset, Wiltshire and Hampshire
  • Salisbury has excellent restaurants and pubs so there is something for all tastes. We will be happy to advise you on where to go (and where to avoid!)
  • Wiltshire has lovely countryside so a day walking or cycling along the paths and lanes is to be treasured. Or just get in your car and lose yourself in the quiet country roads - you're sure to be charmed by what you find.

"A beautiful house and a warm welcome. Situated on a quiet road it is hard to believe you are only a 20min walk from the city centre. A very comfortable room with thoughtful touches like crisp towelling dressing gowns. We enjoyed delicious home made cake on arrival and a tasty breakfast in the morning. Tim & Bridie were very helpful throughout our stay and we would certainly return."

"Really comfortable. The hosts are welcoming and attentive and the breakfast was all homemade and delicious. Lovely to be able to walk into Salisbury and yet be in a quiet road. A pity we only saw the back of the house as the garden side looks lovely in the pictures but we shall return."

"This is a gorgeous period home with a warm welcome. The room is very comfortable and quiet with great views of the garden, and the private bathroom has an excellent shower. The house is filled with wonderful art and beautiful objects; it is an inspiring space. Breakfast was truly delicious, from the best porridge we've ever eaten to the perfectly cooked bacon and eggs. Tim and Biddy are wonderful hosts, providing a warm welcome and helpful tips for enjoying your stay in Salisbury, but also giving you ample privacy. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to salisbury."

"We were able to park our car early in the day at Tim's so that we could walk into Salisbury which was a great help. It's a 20/25 min walk, no problem. Enjoyed the delights of Salisbury and then came back around 4.30pm, what can I say - we were welcomed by Biddy and given tea and biscuits in a beautiful lounge which is for guests. Our bedroom and bathroom were lovely, the bathroom is on the same landing. There are examples of Tim's artwork and furniture everywhere - it really is a beautiful home. Breakfast was gorgeous, homemade jam, honey from a neighbour's hive etc, etc, just FANTASTIC :-)"

"From the moment we stepped in, Tim and Bridie could not have done anymore to make us feel welcome and our stay as comfortable as possible. Lots of nice little touches such as fresh milk in the room and home grown produce at breakfast. Lots of thought had gone into everything. Staying with them really topped off an excellent trip to Salisbury and would recommend it to anyone looking for a homely, smart and enjoyable stay."
