Anvil Cottage - Self-catering in Wiltshire

A pretty village, a charming cottage; you'll sleep soundly in what was once the old forge. Step through the grand oak door into a light and airy open-plan kitchen/dining/living room. The beamed ceiling soars above you, ancient chimneys have been cleverly restyled; in an old doorway a wood-burner (with logs on tap) keeps away chills, as does the underfloor heating. Cosy up on plump beige sofas with spotty cushions while the cook beavers away in the kitchen: they'll be happy with the double oven and all the mod cons. You get extra glasses and crockery, a picnic set, travel cot, fresh flowers, a barbecue. Eat at the oak dining table (or outside in your own little gravelled garden with colourful tubs). Immaculate bedrooms are down a couple of steps: both overlook the well-kept courtyard and the owners home; one has an en suite, there's an extra bathroom and a handy laundry room. Wander the fruit-laden orchard, find the village playing fields and explore further for gentle walks through woods and farmland. Nearby eateries are plentiful: from pub grub to Michelin stars. Relaxing.
