A treat to stay in one half of this unique Grade I listed arch sitting at the estate entrance, just a short walk from the Beckford Arms

The drawing room is cosy, comfortable and attractive with gentle Farrow and Ball colours, striking fabrics, a merry wood-burner and lots of books and games. The kitchen is a good size and well stocked with plenty of pretty china and glasses, a big table for convivial meals and whatever you've ordered for breakfast waiting for you. Or you can walk through the estate to the pub and have it cooked for you. It's a generous place too – you're left decanters of whisky, port and brandy, chocolate brownies and crisps and sweets.

Bedrooms – the main double on the first floor with a freestanding bath looking over the lake and an en suite bathroom, the bunk room up a further flight of stairs – are reached via a spiral stone staircase. There's a shower room and extra loo on the ground floor.

Wander down to the lake for an evening stroll, continue to the Beckford Arms for exceptional food from a seasonal menu. Walk back under dark starry skies.

Guests arrive at their own private parking space in the woods and down a lit walkway is The Arch, it is an extraordinary piece of architecture. The Arch is a 25-minute walk or 3 minute drive from The Beckford Arms with good food, fine food & great company.
The Fonthill Estate is right on our doorstep, consists of farmland, woodland and formal gardens. you will not only be able to see the outstanding natural beauty of the Estate, but also its incredible history, ask for a map and enjoy the afternoon sunshine.
Messums Tisbury, Wiltshire is a leading multi-purpose gallery and arts centre. It has become a platform for creative expression across artistic genre and a meeting point of minds to explore how art as a language is made, interpreted, resolved and shared.
Stonehenge is a World Heritage Site, its surrounding prehistoric monuments remain powerful witnesses to the people of the Neolithic and Bronze Ages who created them. Stonehenge is 14 miles from The Beckford Arms and well worth a visit.
Family fun at Old Wardour castle. Discover the Lovell and Arundell families, who lived at this English Heritage site, activities, and challenges galore. Climb the stone steps of the east tower, visit the great hall, the banqueting hall. and enjoy a picnic.
