It's a lovely Georgian house and you can see much of its history in photographs on the walls – it feels very distinctly a home, but with no lack of style and comfort. There's plenty of space downstairs for a quiet read by the wood burner, a game of pool in the library or a gaze at the lovely garden from armchairs in the bay window.
Four bedrooms are upstairs and all have deep mattresses from Harrison Spinks, a choice of pillows, fine antiques and comfortable seating – three look over the garden. Bathrooms are pristine with plenty of shelf space and Scottish Fine Soaps treats. Breakfast is a feast, enjoyed in the garden on balmy days: fresh juice combinations and compotes made with fruit from the garden, cheeseboard including a Yorkshire Pecorino, then full English or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, avocado and tomato toast – the list goes on!
Next door a field of horses and geese, then a walk through woodland to the Leeds Liverpool Canal and birdwatching.
