Golden eagles soar above this contemporary, larch-clad house, while Highland cattle graze on croft land. This is a place for families and friends to retreat and find peace spotting otters and deer by day, and stargazing through the telescope by night. You're left a starter pack of logs to get the wood-burner blazing, as well as wine and smoked salmon for a welcome apéritif.
Downstairs, sink into deep sofas and browse well-stocked bookcases; the open-plan kitchen and dining room beyond is bright and sociable. Step through French windows to a terrace with outdoor furniture and a barbecue. A pair of twin rooms and a double, all simply furnished with crisp white bed linen, can be found on the same floor. There’s another king-sized double room up the wooden staircase. Tiled bathrooms are stylish and a couple have luxurious walk-in showers.
It’s an eight-minute walk to a beach for paddle boarding or swimming and a three-mile drive to more.

- Only 20 minutes walk to beautiful white sandy beaches and cliff walks . Roll out of bed and climb Mealashal, the highest mountain on Lewis, to enjoy spectacular views out to St Kilda and down to Uist.
- Stock up at the award-winning Uig Community Shop (with 24 hour petrol/diesel pump) or dine at the wonderful Uig Sands restaurant a 20-min drive away and enjoy a menu of delicious local produce and seafood as you watch the sunset over Uig Bay.
- For the energetic this is cycling heaven! Miles of empty single track roads, with enticing refreshments at Uig Community Centre tearoom (summer only) or The Edge Cafe at Aird Uig providing a suitable reward for your efforts.
- Visit the Callanish Standing Stones, the most complete historical stone circle in Europe. Unlike Stonehenge, wander freely amongst these magnificent stones. Continue up the west coast to Carloway Broch, Shawbost Harris Tweed mill and Arnol Blackhouse.
- After a day out in the hills, select a book from the bookcase, curl up on inviting sofas and relax in the warmth of the woodburning stove.
