Llareggub Beach House - Self-catering in Pembrokeshire
Captains Walk, Saundersfoot, SA69 9NL, Pembrokeshire
Wales,
Regno Unito
The three-storey house, approached over a bridge, is far bigger than it looks. From every room you can view an ever-changing scene: low tide shows off glistening sands and pottering waders while high tide reveals bustling boats back in from their fishing trips. Borrow books and hunker down on wild days while the weather magically unfolds.
Inside has a 60s boho feel with attractive lighting, distressed wood and mid-century fabric designs. The open-plan kitchen and living space is just the ticket for cooking together, having companionable meals, doing a jigsaw or playing board games in front of the fire.
Two of the bedrooms lead onto the sea-facing terrace with barbecue, all are cosy and comfortable. Walk into Saundersfoot for shops, pubs and cafés, take a picnic to the broad sandy beach (2 minutes), join the Coast Path and hike three miles through woodland to Tenby.

Local points of interest from Anjana Devoy:
Punti d'interesse locali da
Anjana Devoy:
- Marros Sands is a wild and wind-swept beach that, despite boasting a shipwreck and petrified forest, is often deserted as the only access is by foot.
- A short drive further east along the coast reveals the quaint estuary town of Laugharne with its 12th century Norman castle and Dylan Thomas’s Boathouse (writing shed), both dominating the estuary.
- Narberth is a picturesque market town within half an hour’s drive of Marros, well-known to foodies and lovers of antiques and curiosities. Try Ultracomida on the high street for a wide selection of Spanish delectations.
- No trip to the sea would be complete without visiting the historic architectural jewel that is Tenby. Sheltering between the sea and its Norman town wall, the harbour is a picture postcard affair of sea-bobbing boats and pastel-coloured Georgian houses.
- Wales is a land of castles, and this part of it has its fair share of absolute marvels. Your shortlist will undoubtedly include Pembroke, Manorbier and Carew castles, but there are very many more worth exploring.
- For a unique culinary experience, ask Anjana and David about forging chef extraordinaire, Matt Powell, formerly head chef at acclaimed Pembrokeshire restaurant, Annwn.
