Soak up the silence while savouring a glass of wine from the owners' vineyard in this rural Welsh idyll

At the end of a beautiful approach that takes in views of the high ridge of the Black Mixen and the Forest of Radnor, this sweet, whitewashed cottage tucked away in a remote corner of rural Wales has real 'middle-of-nowhere' appeal.

Inside you'll find a contemporary cottage-core vibe: vintage Welsh blankets, 300-thread-count linens on the pillowy beds, eco toiletries, and a welcome basket of homemade Welsh cakes, fresh duck eggs from next door and a bottle of something lovely and local to revive your spirits.

South-facing with a pretty little stream running through the front garden and a vineyard nearby, the 17th-century cottage has been sensitively restored by the owners. Explore the waterfalls and woodlands of nearby valleys before returning home, tired and weary. Put your feet up with a good book, a roaring fire, and let all sense of the hustle and bustle of the modern world melt from your mind.

Punti d'interesse locali da
Susan & James:

  • Dip your toes in Water-Break-Its-Neck, our local waterfall. Follow the trails through Warren Wood or take advantage of the small car park nearby to reach the spectacular local Water-Break-Its-Neck waterfall. There is an easy, accessible 1-hour walk.
  • Hike up Whimble Hill. Make it to the 598.8m summit of this dewey (it’s just shy of a mountain) on our farm and you’ll be rewarded with wondrous views across the Radnor Valley, taking in the Black Mountains, spanning all the way to the Malvern hills.
  • Have a pint at The Harp. Country Pub of the Year, drink in the unparalleled views at our local pub. Excellent food, local ales and a cosy open fire. Enjoy a tasting and stroll among the vines at our vineyard open weekends on 12-13th July & 22-23rd Aug 2025
  • Pop in to Presteigne. A cultural hub and host of two festivals, Sheep Music and Festival of Music and Arts. You'll find independent shops and antiques aplenty. Visit the Judge's Lodging Museum before sourdough pizza, cider and good wine at Daphne's.
  • See the world's largest owl. The Small Breeds Farm Park in Kington is a sanctuary and home to an incredible array of miniature rare breeds of animals and owls. With lots to do over a whole day out, it's a must for kids and animal lovers alike.
  • Visit the world famous book town of Hay-on-Wye. Lose yourself in secondhand bookshops, independent shops and antique shops at the home of the Hay Literature Festival. Head to the pebbly beach at The Warren where locals go for a wild swim.
