This gracious 1790 manor house is tucked in a small hamlet between two local towns, so you won't feel like you're in some far-flung place. It's well-situated on the banks of the Dordogne, between vineyards and forest - hop on walking or cycling trails from the door, or hire kayaks and glide serenely down the river.
Inside, there are two grand salons, a stunning dining room all with crackling fires, tea, coffee and an honesty bar. If you B&B, your hosts offer breakfast and table d'hôte, if you self-cater in either the main house or the smaller cottage in the grounds, you have swish kitchens with all the gear you need to feed a tribe. Bedrooms are impressive, two suites have their own sitting rooms, the twin room is sweet, all have modern private or en suite bathrooms.
The Dordogne is at your feet: vineyards galore and an award-winning market in the closest town, Sainte Foy. Return for a game of pétanque, table tennis and laps of the pool.
