The honey-hued stone farmhouse is light and spacious with a big kitchen for group cooking (or hire the private chef), a table made for long conversations, toys and games for children and heaps of books. Le Mazet is perfect for two escapees from the main house and is just as pretty with tiled floors and heavily beamed ceilings. The whole place is geared up for families, especially the heated private pool.

The local bakery delivers fresh croissants and bread some mornings if you order the day before, supper can be waiting for you on your arrival day, country walks lead from the houses and you can hire bikes to explore local markets. Wander the gardens and help yourself to fresh fruit and nuts in season, walk down to the auberge restaurant next door for delicious food and natural wines in summer.

Only the sound of distant church bells disturbs the peace and quiet. As the sun goes down light up the barbecue or get cosy round the fire.

The Daily Telegraph reviewed us online with a score of 9/10 and The Sunday Times has featured the properties numerous times. Links on our website. The French Ministry of Tourism has awarded Le Mas with 5 stars.
There is a great 30 minute walk from the house past a 12th century church with original wall paintings, through a wood to a ruined castle towering over a beautiful Dordogne village, ending at a restaurant serving drinks and delicious food.
We can arrange for a private French chef (who had a Michelin star for 8 years!) who can cook for you at Le Mas. We also have a local baker who can deliver your croissant and bread order in the mornings.
Don't miss the best market of the week on Sunday morning in Issigeac - bustling, French and with delicious produce.
Prior to your holiday we'll send you information about the great restaurants in the area which we can book for you, bike hire delivered to Le Mas for you, and massages, pilates and and yoga in the garden.
Situated on top of a hill, the houses offer stunning uninterrupted views over the surrounding countryside and the 12th century church, whose bells you can hear across the valley.

"In the middle of the Dordogne countryside we stayed at this beautifully restored farmhouse. The two (charming) owners have put all their energy, love and taste into restoring the house into a luxurious place to stay. They have managed to keep many of the old elements of the house such as the big fireplace, the old beams and the sandstone walls that make the house extremely homely. The owners were very hospitable (without intruding in any way) and went out of their way to make our stay as memorable as possible. We made great hikes in the region. We will definitely return to this lovely place"

"I had a wonderful stay at Le Mas and Le Mazet. Rupert and Franck were friendly and accommodating hosts, and had many useful suggestions about what to do/where to eat in this richly interesting and historic region. The property itself was beautiful with a combination of scenic views and French style (the bathrooms were particularly modern). Everything was impeccably clean. Outside was equally pretty, with the pool (which was of perfect size for cooling off) looking over the hills where we routinely saw kestrels and butterflies. The thoughtful Summer Kitchen allowed us to make the most of this."

"The house is beautifully restored and has everything you need, with a fully equipped kitchen, a large dining table and wonderful fire place for long evenings and good conversations. Also the summer kitchen and outdoor BBQ next to the the swimming pool are a delight and the the views all around are just stunning. Our room was huge and the spotlessly clean bathroom featured a wonderful shower, stylish bathtub, delicious soaps and fluffy towels. The bed was just heaven, even more luxurious than in some of the best hotels we have stayed in! We will definitely be back!"
