It's a few steps from your room to the pool, and shady seats dot the lawns for picnicking, or hiding away with a book. Rooms are in the 'longère', 300 years old and restored by Gilles from the same golden stone. Three rooms are on the ground floor, neat and cosy; two in the oak beamed eaves, with great views over the garden.
Garden lovers will not want to miss the stunning Manoir d'Eyrignac, a short drive away - a lovely four-hour walk through pasture and walnut orchards. Medieval Sarlat is 15 minutes by car and the incredible replica of the Lascaux caves just a bit further.
Breakfast changes daily; perhaps pancakes, clafoutis or waffles; and always homemade jams and yogurt. The table d'hôte begins with a poolside apéritif. Creative menus are all cooked by your hosts with vegetables freshly picked from the garden. Sit back with a glass of local wine and soak in the last rays of evening sun.
