Les Reflets Roz - Bed & Breakfast in Côtes-d’Armor
1 Le Grand Roz, 22150 Ploeuc-l'Hermitage, Côtes-d’Armor
Brittany,
Francia
Set in a wooded valley, this hamlet of 200-year-old granite farm buildings has been gently restored by owners Sébastien and Céline, whose artistic touches can be seen throughout the property – we love the Magritte-inspired bedroom, with its painted walls, bowler-hat lampshades and quirky tiles in the bathroom. Two other bedrooms and a family room are equally comfortable, with queen-size beds and bucolic views over the garden and lake.
Mornings unfold slowly here. Gather at the shared breakfast table for fresh sourdough and homemade muesli. There's always a sweet treat still warm from the pan - crepes, madeleines, French toast. Order a picnic for lunch or a dinner basket of seasonal vegetarian food prepared by your hosts (do try the local cider) to enjoy in your room or by the lake.
Outside, there's a wood-fired Nordic bath water-side and a sauna set in a bamboo grove. Céline can lead a yoga session on request, and massages can be arranged too.

Sébastien Furet:
- Chaos du Gouët: A walk along the river Gouët amongst huge moss-covered granite boulders, the ruins of old mills and wooded undergrowth. One of the most untamed natural sites in the Côtes-d'Armor, a 20-minute drive away.
- L'Aromatic: A bistronomic restaurant in Ploeuc-l'Hermitage, 5 minutes away. Creative cuisine by master restaurateur Christophe Sagory, featuring local and seasonal produce, and aromatic herbs from the chef's garden. Booking recommended.

- Quintin: A 'Petite Cité de Caractère' (Small Town of Character) 15 mins away. 17th & 18th-century castles, medieval streets, half-timbered houses and the Linen Museum. Once the Breton capital of textiles, it remains a lively town with its shops and market.
- Chais les Garçons: A wine bar and cellar housed in a former 17th-century corn exchange in Quintin, 15 mins away. Wines from independent winemakers, generous platters, regular live music. A warm atmosphere, vintage furniture and old wine barrels.
- Plouha & Gwin Zégal Cliffs: The highest cliffs in Brittany (104m) and the stilted harbour at Gwin Zégal, one of the last of its kind in Europe. GR34 footpath along the coast, unspoilt coves and panoramic views over Saint-Brieuc Bay. 40 mins away.
