It's a lovely approach and the surroundings are verdant and peaceful – you'll feel your shoulders drop instantly. Bedrooms are in the main house or the pretty cottage and all are charming, but if you come as two couples take the cottage as you then have your own sitting room with wood-burner and will feel very private.
Breakfast includes fresh bread and croissants, homemade jams, fruit from the garden, home-baked cakes, eggs from their own chickens and more. A delicious dinner is served on Fridays and Saturdays which you can order in advance, or you can summon up a gourmet board or seafood platter on the evenings they’re not serving dinner.
Wander to the fecund potager, find a hammock, deck chairs, magnificent old trees including a 350-year-old oak and a heavily scented linden, take a picnic to the field. This is the most peaceful, magical place to stay.
