There's plenty of space. As well as small seating areas in each bedroom there is a generous guest sitting/dining room with a long table and a bench seat, several separate reading spaces, two balconies overlooking the water and a back garden with seats and tables set up for contemplating or taking a book. This 1960s house, surrounded by coastal pines is approached by crossing a bridge with fabulous views of endless masts.
Breakfast is served on one of the balconies or in the guest sitting room: homemade cake, local breads, honey and homemade jam - hungrier souls can tuck into eggs, ham, bacon and cheese.
Bedrooms are big. One on the ground floor has its own decking, another on the first floor has picture windows overlooking swaying pines and the river and, up in the eaves, the views are even better. All have en suite walk-in showers. Book a boat trip to explore the islands or bring your own kayak and set sail from here.
