An informal, very open-hearted place to stay, where you can have homemade dinners with wine, a sharing platter, or just use the outdoor kitchen and barbecue if you want. Breakfasts (served in the dining room) include local organic eggs, homemade jams and granola and freshly baked cakes – a different one each day. Have a quiet read in the sun afterwards on the day bed – you don't have to stand on ceremony here.
Two upstairs bedrooms feel contemporary with a sweet vintage twist; these can be rented out as communicating suites with a shared bathroom. The downstairs bedroom has its own entrance and private shower. Everything is clean, comfortable and delightfully full of character.
Wander to the village for a well-priced restaurant, or head to Saint-Jean-d'Angély for more choice. Walks and cycles will be through lovely countryside, and Saint-Jean-d'Angély has a market three times a week.
