This elegant B&B is made up of typical Provençal stone houses, one the bastide, one a former sheepfold, surrounded by a large fenced garden and three hectares of woodland. It's utterly peaceful here, the only sounds being the rustling of leaves and birdsong.
The interiors have a tranquil, Scandinavian feel - your hosts, Teis and Christel, are Danish. Bedrooms are spacious with lovely views, and a guest sitting room has a fireplace, books, games and toys. Breakfast is wonderful: local, organic seasonal fruit salad, muesli, eggs, bread and pastries; ask about picnics and Teis' three-course dinners served under the branches of an enormous tree or in the dining room.
There are countless hiking and biking trails starting on your doorstep and bikes can be rented locally, or there's canyoning and kayaking on the Verdon River (half an hour by car). Typical Provençal hill villages, beginning with Bargemon itself, are close at hand, and the coast is 45 minutes away; Nice is just over an hour.
