Inside is filled with antique furniture and pictures, you'll feel steeped in history. This dog-friendly lodge has a lovely sitting room with velvet armchairs and a French day bed. On chilly days you can light the bio-ethanol stove and you'll find plenty of books to read and a smart TV. The kitchen is small and galley style but has all you need to cook up a storm and you're left a hamper of local eggs, home-baked bread and milk.
Two bedrooms have antique double beds with spoiling Foxford Irish linen and share a sparkling bathroom with a walk-in shower and local soaps and lotions. Bath robes and an honesty bar will make you feel right at home. On sunny days you can sit in your own patch of garden and light the barbecue to sizzle up something local. But if you don't feel like cooking, The Stables Café is a stroll away.
Find bikes waiting so you can head off on the Waterford Greenway, or walk if you prefer. Then there are the gardens.
