A beautifully curated 1910 architect-designed summerhouse, filled with light and stunning views, with gardens, grove and refreshing pool

You're high on a hill with spectacular views over the city of La Spezia, then on over the vast blue expanse of the Gulf of Poets. The well-tended gardens include maritime pine and there is a terraced olive garden – spending time outdoors will be a joy and there are plenty of covered spaces to sit and eat, or relax on comfortable sofas and chairs, even if it rains.

Indoors is equally delightful – tall, arched windows adorn three sides of the first floor so light pours in. The main living room is filled with treasures from all over Europe and some pieces date back to the 1700s – the feel is elegant and serene and you can eat indoors with a sea view. The big kitchen is tip-top, gorgeous to work in (although you can order a chef if you prefer) and with wonderful views.

Sleep in peaceful, roomy bedrooms, wake to breakfast on the terrace and a lazy day by the pool, slide into the water when you need to cool off, or wander the gardens.
