Pied à Terre with Terrazza - Bed & Breakfast in Lombardy
Via Carlo Goldoni, 23, 20129 Milan
Lombardy,
Italia
Live like a Milanese, aperitivo in hand, gazing over the city from your rooftop terrace. Tucked under the eaves of this 19th-century palazzo (there’s a lift most of the way) this cosy, shabby-chic room is bedroom, living space and breakfast area rolled into one. White walls, bamboo floors and a large French window make the most of the light and space; a bright blue-and-white patchwork quilt and large mirror over the bed add warmth. A zinging black and white bathroom is a triumph of ergonomics. True, it’s a pretty squeeze but most of your time will be spent on the tiled terrace with its flower boxes, orange and lemon trees and eye-opening views. Here you’ll plan your day while taking breakfast- including fresh breads, pastries and homemade jams - left daily by Gillian. It’s a 20-minute walk to the big sights: Duomo, Leonardo’s Last Supper, Brera Gallery and La Scala. Scottish Gillian will advise plus share her tips for where to eat. Return to refresh in your roof garden; a rare city treasure.

- Milan is renowned for "fashion" and truly so it is, you can shop in the exclusive boutiques of Via Montenapoleone , Via Della Spiga Corso Garibaldi and so on. A bus ride of about 90mins will take you to one of the biggest shopping villages close to Milan.
- Piazza Duomo the cathedral is a magnificent building well worth a visit, walk through galleria Vittorio Emanuelle and you will have the "Scala of Milan" in front of you,a short walk from there and you will see the Sforzesca Castle a historical building.
- Naviglio is a special place in Milan the old canals that once upon a time were used to bring all the products from the nearby countryside into the city. Now a days a trip up and down the canals is like going back in time, the small vincole are so romantic
- Italy,Milan means food, trattoria and be sure you will be spoils for choice. Milan offers risotto with saffron, veal chops the size of an elephant ear cooked with bread crumbs served with salad and tomatoes really very tasty and of course a bottle of wine !!
- Museums are a must depending on your particular interest, the Last Supper Leonardo da Vinci is of course at the top of the list but you MUST book in advance maybe together with a walk around tour of Milan.
- Concerts are becoming very popular in Milan not to mention the Scala but tickets must be bought in advance. For lovers of jazz the Blue Note is the place to go advisable to book but there are lots of bars that organise jazz sessions, especially Naviglio.
