From the main road head up through rolling vineyards to the gated entrance and into a heady world of fine food and wine, gardens of herbs and lavender, and a promise of pampering. All rooms have distant sea views and their own garden terrace – included in your stay is entry to the Insula Beach Club, five minutes away.
Plentiful breakfasts are served buffet-style from one long table, a feast of breads, cereals, fruit, cheese and ham. Spend active days walking or attending a class (wine-tasting and cookery are both available), or lazy days in the shade with a book, sliding into the pool when you get too hot.
Visit salt mines and historic towns, return to dine in on local specialities as the sun dips below the horizon. The closest village is Menfi, a ten-minute drive for ancient ruins, sparkling seas and glorious beaches. Sample excellent wines.
