Nestled on the banks of the river Kennet, this gorgeous Georgian house is warm and relaxed, filled with interesting contemporary art. Bedrooms are charming and cosy in a traditional style, with swagged curtains and dreamy beds, chintz chairs and floral eiderdowns.
Two double bedrooms on the first floor share an en suite bathroom so they're perfect for families or friends. On the top floor, a snug double and a twin, with sloping ceilings and dormer windows, share a shower room. Views over the pretty garden take in clouds of hydrangeas with the river and water meadow beyond.
With birdsong in the air and the sound of the river flowing past, breakfast can be a leisurely affair enjoyed outside. Ingredients are sourced from the Grove farm shop and butchery nearby and local providers. Fortified, head out for a walk in the countryside – there are plenty in this beautiful area and Marlborough can be reached on foot in just half an hour.
