The Grosvenor Arms - Inn in Wiltshire
High Street, Hindon, SP3 6DJ, Wiltshire
England,
Regno Unito
A wonderful spot for exploring Salisbury Plain or Cranborne Chase and a cosy place to spend a few days with crackling log fires, flickering candlelight and delicious food. Hearty traditional dishes (glorious pies, fish from Brixham, game in season, Nole pizzas on Fridays, thoughtful vegan options) are created from local produce and served without fuss. Ale lovers will be happy with three choices from Rude Giant Brewery and the wine list is robust.
Bedrooms – above the pub or in the annexe – vary in size but all have supremely comfy beds, eclectic art, pretty fabrics, antique finds, homemade cookies, fresh milk and locally roasted coffee. Breakfast isn't bad either – kick off with a turmeric and lemon shot, a Bloody Mary or a Negroni, then tuck into a full or half English or shakshuka and sourdough.
Set off on quiet walks through the Fonthill Estate, return to a sunny terrace and a pint, or bag a spot by the fire – repeat the process.

- Close to nearby Tisbury is Wardour Castle. Originally built as a lightly fortified luxury residence for comfortable living and lavish entertainment, it’s one of those obvious nearby places to have a look at, and a look out from; the views are lovely.
- With a garden that features an iconic Palladian house, a lake flanked by mature, rare trees, and plenty of picnic spots, Stourhead brings a spot of magic. Best enjoyed on a crisp autumn afternoon.
- If lions and tigers and bears (oh my) are your thing, head to Longleat. A short drive away, the lions snooze and the zebras roam about the grounds of this grand stately home. Despite the enchantment, watch out for the monkeys if driving through, they like a bit of windscreen wiper. It’s quite easy to get lost in their mazes too.
- Just a short drive up the A303 in sleepy Wiltshire countryside sits one of the wonders of the world - Stonehenge. It’s definitely worth a visit to see the stones up close.
- Wander the streets of Shaftesbury, a Saxon market town, famous for the iconic landmark Gold Hill. Pop into the King's Arms for a pit stop and fuel up with a pint and something delicious from the pub bangers menu.
