Doune Knoydart - Bed & Breakfast in Highland
Doune, Knoydart, PH41 4PL, Highland
Scotland,
Regno Unito
Arrive via a 40-minute boat ride from Mallaig to a gloriously untamed peninsula off Scotland's north west coast. All around you are sublime sea views, invigorating walks and masses of nature. Spot whales, golden eagles, dolphins, seals, badgers, red deer – around 120 species live here.
You stay in a stone lodge gazing out to the Isle of Skye with armchairs for weather and wildlife watching, a mezzanine if you're travelling with kids and en suite shower rooms. Book all four rooms for a private escape. Wood panelling makes everything cosy in your bedroom and over in the restaurant hub, where Rebecca spoils you with hearty breakfasts, packed lunches and homemade, locally sourced suppers.
Come to walk, kayak, wild swim or sit and read as you revel in the vast, ever-changing skies. It's a two-hour hike to The Old Forge in Inverie, Britain's 'most remote mainland pub' – or ask Andrew to pick you up by boat after a pint or a meal.

Rebecca Rutherford & Andrew Brodie:
- The sea is literally metres from your door - there is no option for a "room with a sea view" as the ocean is hard to miss at Doune!
- "Such a special place, fantastic food, hospitality and out of the world scenery."
- "It feels like we've become part of an extended family at Doune who enjoy wonderful food, great conversations and dramatic walks."
- Doune sits on the edge of the middle of no where and with no road access, peace and quiet is a given!
- The most remote pub on the UK mainland 6 miles along a beautiful single tracked road...and don't worry, we will pick you up after!
