A deceptively roomy 300-year-old stone cottage, with front-facing windows overlooking the harbour - just a short walk up to town

A glorious spot to land with the sea just inches from your front door and oodles of places to eat, and buy, good food - if you're feeling lazy you can pre-order some of Martin's incredibly good home-cooked meals. You'll find crab lines and buckets in the cottage, you can ask for kayaks to be waiting along the back corridor and you're just minutes from a pub for a pint. Indoors is hugely comfortable with great furniture, a subtly colourful style and a fascinating art collection.

You're left fresh flowers, plenty of logs for the wood-burners, and the kitchen is well equipped – not huge, but part of the large dining space so it doesn't feel pinched and has a big window letting the light pour in. Bedrooms (one double, one single, and another double which can be set up as a triple) have comfy beds and low windows. The upstairs bathroom has a bath and shower and there's a separate shower/loo downstairs.

Your brilliant welcome guide is just the ticket for exploring.

Punti d'interesse locali da
Bridget Simcock:

  • The Cafe on the Quay - Pan fried mackerel salad is a specialty, alongside minute steak baguettes and salad. Twenty-five yards from your door! A great little harbourside lunch spot.
  • The Ship Inn - Famous for hosting Richard Burton and Peter O’Toole’s drinking bouts during the filming of Under Milk Wood in 1972. Cash only.
  • Newport Sands - Beautiful long sandy beach on the estuary with lovely views, good for dog walks, picnics, swimming. Has a good cafe & loos.
  • The Bluestone Brewery - An excellent range of craft ales served alongside a diverse range of occasional musical offerings, in a rustic setting. Gets very busy and cheery in the summer, great for people watching.
  • Dinas Head - A dramatic walk around the headland with stunning views.
  • The Old Sailors - A great place to stop at after a walk around Dinas Head, really good food & beer.
