There is much peace in the hamlet with swans and the occasional kayak (bring your own!) gliding past on the water, sometimes fishermen on the bank and many mature trees for reflected autumn colours. Inside is not just a place to stay, it's a living art gallery – the resident artist’s wonderful canvasses light up the walls - an ever-changing display as they are sold and replaced.
You're completely secluded in your courtyard garden: sunbathe on loungers, fire up the barbecue, jump in the hot tub after a long walk, revel in the peace. The kitchen has oodles of kit so bring back your market finds and cook up a storm - you're left a bottle of local wine to get you started and lots of useful basics in the cupboards.
Up the wooden stairs to a mezzanine bedroom, spacious and airy with views down to the river and a separate walk-in shower. The courtyard catches the afternoon sun so it's a good spot for late, lazy lunches.
