This is a lovely place to stay and there's oodles of room, so even if all four rooms are booked you'll find private spaces to roost. Take a book to the comfortable, welcoming sitting room, head for the cinema room, play billiards or table football, find lots of books and board games if the weather isn't playing. Outside you'll find a big grassy garden with a terrain pétanque, a spa area and a super-long swimming pool for lazy, hazy days.
Four sumptuous bedrooms are distinctive – one with a massive picture window, another with its own enclosed garden, one for families with a roof terrace – but each are wonderful, colourful spaces in which to spend time. Philippe is a professional chef, so food is taken seriously at breakfast, lunch (if you want it) and dinner – local food, cooked superbly and accompanied by local, natural wines.
There's a deliciously unfussy, amiable vibe here, with visits to local vineyards, walks and cycles.
