Château de Montmirail - Bed & Breakfast in Sarthe
Place du chateau, 72320 Montmirail, Sarthe
Western Loire,
Francia
Turreted Montmirail has an absorbing history. Once a meeting place for kings, the castle was destroyed and rebuilt twice before its transformation into an elegant château by the Princess of Conti, daughter of Louis XIV.
Today, all is peaceful from its perch above the quaint town of Montmirail and endless bucolic countryside. It's easy to see why the region is a favourite escape for urbane Parisians. You're free to wander through the exquisite reception rooms with painted panelling, then go behind the scenes and climb the stairs to bedrooms where original features remain intact, charmingly restored with soft lighting, super beds and sparkling bathrooms.
Breakfast is a continental feast taken in the medieval kitchens around one large table, or al fresco on the view-filled terrace. Slip outside to fragrant gardens before exploring Le Mans, hunting for antiques and hidden treasures.
