La Niña Chole - Self-catering house in Cádiz
Calle Almendro 12, 11140 Conil de la Frontera, Cádiz
Andalusia,
Spagna
A bright, eclectic house filled with beautiful things. Original handmade tiles, heavy carved doors, Moorish screens, colourful Moroccan furniture - you'd never guess it was built in 2000. Gaze out to sea from the lookout tower, cool off in the triangular pool, lounge on the upstairs terrace or the leafy garden.
You're in a residential area of smart holiday homes, a short stroll to the beach (150m). Nip to Conil (10km) for supplies and eating out, stock up on fresh fish at the Abastos market, open every morning Monday-Saturday. Seaside Barbate is teeming with good places to eat, check out the hippy haven, Los Caños de Meca, head inland to flamboyant Seville or relaxed Jerez.
Cook in the decent-sized kitchen, recently revamped, or barbecue outside. Bedrooms are on each floor, twin/doubles downstairs, larger suites up - one has its own sitting room, the other access to the terrace, both have fireplaces for out-of-season stays.

Punti d'interesse locali da
Andrew Platt:
- The “Sonata de verano” by the nineteenth century writer, Ramón María del Valle-Inclán, transports the reader to Mexico’s Carribean coast where he lives the passionate and stormy relationship between the Marqués de Bradomín and the Niña Chole.
- It was only built twenty years ago, but the house is authentic Andaluz, complete with its entrance hall (zaguán), moorish window screens, look-out tower, courtyards, and old tiles.
- It is a 100m walk to one of the Costa de la Luz's most stunning beaches...and it has a few! The 8km stretch of sand has fabulous selection of beach bars, from scruffy to smart
- It's a 30-minute drive to Cadiz, 45 minutes to Jerez, and 90 minutes to Seville. The hilltop town of Vejer is 20 minutes, and Tarifa (and the fast boat to Tangier) is a 40 minute drive.
- The province of Cadiz is the Spain of fighting bulls and flamenco, of ferias and finos, and fine, simple, food (olive oil, ham, tuna, partridge, oranges, prickly pears, sea urchins... and there are loads of wonderful bars, restaurants, and markets
- Cadiz is Spanish mainland's southernmost province, covering 7,436km2, 30% of which is National Park. Green rolling hills with giant cactus hedges separate the Mediterranean from the Atlantic and provide walks galore and stunning views of Morocco.
