Bird-filled woods behind you and the sparkling bay in front create instant holiday feelings at this roomy, semi-detached Victorian cottage

It's very cosy and comfortable downstairs in the open-plan living area with family pictures, art old and new, Scrabble, books and a wood-burner to take any chill off. Another sitting room upstairs has a desk for working with sea views - a great spot for inspiration. One bedroom is on the ground floor, the other upstairs, both are en suite and have the views.

A large, decked terrace has chairs for lounging and a table for outdoor eating, along with a barbecue. Lovely to sizzle something fresh and tasty while you open the wine and gaze over the bay. If you don't feel like cooking then a five-minute walk will take you down to the Inn for breakfast, lunch, a cream tea or dinner. You can borrow kayaks, organise a wooden yacht or a Land Rover tour, just ask.

Walk all day on the South West Coast Path, swim from the gentle pebbled bay or wander ten-minutes to a red sandy beach. Return to a decanter of sloe gin, robes and slippers.

Queen Victoria visited the Babbacombe Bay twice. Once in 1846 when she did not land and again in 1852. This time the queen was taken close to the shore in a rowing boat so that she could admire and sketch the scenery.
During the day, Babbacombe's sun-trapped beaches are the main attraction. Water sparkles like sapphire and you can lose yourself in the surroundings of the unique Coral Coast. Babbacombe Cliff railway is available to take you up and down from the beaches.
The world’s most famous crime writer, Agatha Christie, was born in Torquay in 1890. 1938 she bought Greenway, a beautiful house overlooking River Dart at Galmpton near Brixham, a short drive away. Every year we take part in a festival celebrating her life.
Outdoor sports are a must! Coastal walks, horse riding, scuba diving, sailing, fishing, kayaking, tennis, golf, swimming etc. We are surrounded by a selection of great activities hosted throughout several little bays around Torbay.
Look out for 'Sammy' our resident seal. Often seen by the pier point or lazing in the sun on the Babbacombe rocks. Friendly and fun he plays with all the divers, swimmers and fisherman.
