Huge picture windows, oak floors, contemporary furnishings and stunning views. Pool, tennis court, gym and Jacuzzi too

Keep going into the wilds of the Scottish glens, and a bit further – and then be startled by this sleek, glass-balconied stone building with stupendous views over the Angus hills. Built from the barn's reclaimed stone on David and Lynsay's farm, the building – with its modern corrugated iron roof and sliding oak doors – cleverly combines old and new. Divided into three houses, sweeping glass balustraded staircases lead to light-filled open-plan living areas toasty with heating beneath honey-coloured floorboards. White walls, pale leather sofas, tweed throws and funky furnishings make for smart but relaxed spaces. Kitchens are ultra-modern in oak and granite while vast picture windows bring the outside in. Overhead heaters make dining on the balcony a serious option. Gaze from your bed in the downstairs bedrooms through floor-to-ceiling windows to wild views. With oak floors, linen curtains and wool throws, these are calming spaces while big bathrooms are uber-chic. Beaches, hill-walks, Scottish castles are within 40 minutes. Or stay home and indulge in the indoor pool, gym and Jacuzzi, a new tennis court – even book a massage. Heaven.
