Sip a local pint from the terrace of this 400-year-old mill to the sound of water from the mill stream and many quacking residential ducks. The house stands in three acres of gardens that are filled with art and beautiful things. Inside, cosy interiors have low ceilings, wonky walls, busts and mirrors, smouldering fires. There's a panelled bar for pre-dinner drinks with a range of tapas-style snacks and a seasonal menu cooked from scratch with ingredients as local as possible.

Bedrooms are either in the main house or in a more modern annexe and vary in size but all have deep mattresses, DAB radios, smart TVs, Nespresso machines and New Forest shortbread; bathrooms sparkle, towels are thick and fluffy. Breakfast includes coffee from a local roaster, American waffle stacks, bacon and sausages, egg muffins.

Wander the extensive gardens admiring the sculptures, find a peaceful gazebo by the koi pond, join in with barbecues in the summer.

The Old Mill is set on the eastern edge of the New Forest in a tranquil riverside location, just 3 miles from Lymington. It’s a great spot for exploring both the stunning South Coast and Hampshire countryside.

There’s plenty of coastline to discover nearby for a day out at the seaside. Take a stroll along the sand in lively Bournemouth, spot yachts at Hamble Point and Hythe Marina, visit the quay at Lymington or see the beach huts on Mudeford Sands.
Alternatively, stay inland and experience the New Forest, complete with wild ponies, deer and cows. The quiet villages of Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst both have lovely tea rooms.
Make the most of The Mill’s beautiful setting by wandering through our wonderful gardens and grounds, including our enchanting Secret Garden, full of artworks, sculptures and exhibits.

"In August we spent three nights at The Mill at Gordleton, which we loved. We did have one of the suites, which was well worth it with a view over the river and somewhere to sit. We ate in each of the three nights and the dinners were excellent."
