You are welcomed warmly with Yorkshire tea and homemade cake. It may have old stone walls, but inside the vaulted ceilings and mid-century furniture, not to mention the enormous bed and roll top bath, give this generous space the feel of a smart hotel.
Lorna and Chris, who live nearby, have put a lot of love into this low-impact conversion. A big dining table has plenty of room for board games and the kitchen has a welcome supply of cooking basics, as well as organic Prosecco and fresh milk in the fridge.
Off the bedroom, with its high ceiling and oak beams, the wet room has a walk-in rain shower. Explore the forests and valleys of the North Yorks Moors on foot from the door. Keen cyclists can take on the Windings, used for hill climbs during the Tour de Yorkshire. Swallows swoop on summer evenings as you sip something nice in the summerhouse.
