Scandi-Scottish cabin with views across the Kyle of Lochalsh, within walking distance of a cracking pub - a Sawday's Community Champion

Clad in timber and cradled by gorse and native shrubs, this lochside hideaway feels rooted in the wild landscape. A winding path leads down to Bernera Beach, where seals swim and seabirds wheel in the skies overhead. The house shares a firepit and a seating area with Nead Bernera next door, but there’s plenty of space for everyone.

Inside, floor-to-ceiling windows frame sweeping views to Skye and Eigg. Underfloor heating and a generous wood-burner keep things cosy. The plywood kitchen is smart and Scandi-sleek. There’s no TV, but plenty of books and puzzles – plus the luxury of time to daydream and watch the weather roll by.

Two bedrooms – a double and a twin – share a stylish walk-in shower room, and there’s a second loo in the utility. Stroll to Glenelg for a pint, or (in the summer) hop on the tiny turntable ferry for Skye. Back at base, stargaze in skies free from light, then sleep soundly surrounded by silence. This place is one of our Sawday’s Community Champions – not-for-profit organisations receiving subsidised Sawday’s membership as recognition for their support of causes and communities.
