The house, originally part of the Romanée Conti estate, sits in a shallow valley with the hillsides covered in these, now legendary, vines. The owners can help you plan wonderful walks through vineyards and forests to discover the pretty villages of the area.
Breakfast is quite an event, served in the breakfast room or out in the courtyard on balmy days: bread and pastries, fruits and yogurts, but also something conjured up that morning like pancakes, cakes, fruit tarts. It's worth staying in for dinner; Sylvain likes to rework French classics such as Boeuf bourguignon, Poularde aux morilles, Blanquette de veau, hearty meals accompanied perfectly by the local wines.
There are two bedrooms, one up fairly steep stairs, and your own sitting room with heavenly views over the garden; take a book and a glass of wine out to a pretty table and chairs shaded by a copse of trees. It's elegant here - you'll feel very French.
