Up, up and away to this stunning cottage perched 1400 feet high in the National Park with big skies, grand walks and much comfort indoors

The whole hamlet has a fascinating history - there's been a settlement of sorts here since the 1100s - and the atmosphere is very special. It's off-grid but there's not a scrap of hair shirt about it. The kitchen has a warming Aga, a wood-burner belts out the heat with unlimited logs and the welcome hamper from Tully's of Rothbury is bulging with nice things including chocolate and fizz.

Walk all day from the cottage without coming across another soul. Cyclists will head to Kidland forest for an off road circular route with a long section by the river, artists and writers will steep themselves in the peaceful, creative vibe, wildlife lovers will like watching the bird feeders in the garden and feeding Bertie and Cyril, the resident red squirrels.

Evenings in summer will be spent by the barbecue in the garden and clear skies at any time of year will reveal a starry blanket when it's dark. Sleep peacefully in well-dressed beds.

Visit Craigside House! A wonderful day out for the whole family and doggies too. Building camps in the woods, nature trails, kayaking and canoeing on the lake. Beautiful gardens and house full of local history and inventions. Our favourite place to go!
For Harry Potter fans! Alnwick Castle is a fantastic day out for all the family. Learn about the history of Alnwick and enjoy the beautiful award-winning gardens created by The Duchess of Northumberland. Activities, concerts and magical fun!
Barter Books is one of the biggest second-hand book stores in the country. Great for rainy days. Preserved beautifully it is located in the old Alnwick Train Station. Sit, read and relax with a cuppa in restored waiting rooms with open fires. Dogs welcome.
Holy Island and the Farne Islands are a great day out. Spot seals and puffins as you travel by boat. Visit the home of Grace Darling, Longstone Light House and find out how her amazing courage inspired the first life boats to patrol our shores.
Alnmouth Beach is the start of amazing castle walks and the beach itself is stunning and the local’s favourite.. The Village has amazing coffee shops and dog friendly pubs. Visit the School House Gallery for famous local art work and cultural events.
The Star Inn in Harbottle is loved by guests for its warm welcome and is at the heart of the community. You can dine in or pick up a take away on your way back to the cottage. It's dog friendly too so you can take them with you.
