At the top of a square, looking down to the sea, a super hotel with lots of interesting art. You're bang in the middle of Brighton with all the stuff you'd want on your doorstep: galleries, bars, the Pier and the Royal Pavilion. As for the hotel, good food, great staff, relaxed informality and a playful style are the hallmarks here. You get stripped boards, exposed brick walls and an old garage door that slides back to reveal The Clubhouse - a buzzing hangout from breakfast to bedtime. 'Blake's' is their super cool cocktail bar with a sunny terrace facing the sea.

You breakfast (royally) in the light and airy café space with sea views through big windows. Bedrooms come in different styles. Some have pop art murals, others come in Regency colours, a new batch are super-cool with baths in the room. Most have small, stylish shower rooms; one has a decked terrace. All are interesting and colourful and there are some super apartments too.

Step out for seafront, shops, restaurants.

"Loved our stay here. We got a great deal through booking our stay on Black Friday. We had a small room on the fourth floor, with a magnificent mural by Jo Peel. The mini bar was full of unusual and tasty nibbles and drinks. The breakfasts were consistently delicious for all three days of our stay. The bed was so comfy, we slept incredibly well. The hotel is situated perfectly for exploring the town centre and the seafront."
