Spacious farmhouse with annexe, great for gatherings with family and friends. Fabulous walks and endless views over the Eglwysbach valley

Climbing ever higher along narrow country lanes, you arrive at this 17th-century stone farmhouse. Tall and narrow, the house has commanding views over the Eglwysbach valley. With grants from Cadw and the local council, the restoration of this Grade II listed building has artfully married history with comfort.

There are slate-tiled floors, timbered walls and wooden beams in the spacious sitting room, where a cosy wood-burner and comfy sofas invite you to kick back and relax. On the lower ground floor, a small study, twin bedroom and bathroom have low, curved ceilings, a reminder that these rooms were once used as stables for livestock. Upstairs are two further double bedrooms, one a versatile zip-link twin. Anybody wanting their own space will love the separate annexe.

Fire up the barbecue, open a bottle of something nice and sit back. The only sounds you'll hear are the grazing sheep and perhaps the distant rumble of a tractor at work.

The Welsh Mountain zoo is set in 37 acres of gardens above the town of Colwyn Bay and perfect for families. The zoological gardens offer breathtaking scenery, and panoramic view across the bay as you wander around the pathways admiring and learning about the animals in the zoo’s collection.
Trefriw Woolen Mills is a family run business that still manufactures traditional Welsh "tapestry and tweeds. These are all produced using machines which are over 50 years old and powered by a vintage water turbine.
